Shining Nikki is the fourth entry in the Nikki series from Papergames, published globally under the Infold Games label β the same studio behind Love and Deepspace, Lovebrush Chronicles and the sequel Infinity Nikki. It is the first fully 3D Nikki game, built around cloth physics, an AR fitting feature and roughly a thousand garment materials feeding the styling combat system. The Global server launched on 5 July 2021, the SEA server Rosset followed on 13 April 2022, and a Vietnamese server opened on 24 October 2023. As of spring 2026 the game is live and patching, with the latest publicly logged Global maintenance on 26 February 2026. Three currencies: Star Gems, Diamonds and Pink Gems
Shining Nikki runs one of the more tangled economies in the dress-up gacha space β outlets like TheGamer have described it as "confusing and greedy." Three separate currencies sit side by side with distinct roles. Star Gems are the premium currency, bought only with real money, and feed wishes, outfits and the in-game shop. Diamonds are the soft currency, earned through stages, story progression and events, and Star Gems convert into Diamonds at 1:1 β but the conversion is one-way only, you cannot turn Diamonds back into Star Gems. Pink Gems sit in their own scope: they pay for SSR items in a dedicated shop, high-tier gifts for Nikki in the social menu and certain exclusive gacha exchanges. Pink Gems are not for sale and do not convert from Diamonds or Star Gems. New players routinely save up Diamonds expecting to clear the SSR shop, then run into a Pink Gems wall.
Gate of Heart: the 10-pull guarantee and the 15-pull Journey of Wishes safeguard
Gate of Heart is the wishing hub with two main tracks. The permanent Sea of Fantasy (Gleam) uses Fantasy Tickets at 120 Diamonds each, or 100 Diamonds and a 10-pack for 960 Diamonds while a Privilege Card is active. Limited Tale of Wishes and Journey of Wishes banners run on Gleaming Stars, where 1 Gleaming Star equals 10 Exclusive Summons in a single tap. Single-pull rates are 2.5% UR, 9% SSR, 22.8% SR, with the rest filled by R and common items; rates increase when 10 tickets are purchased at once. The headline rule is "10 pulls guarantee at least one SSR", and Journey of Wishes layers an extra safeguard on top: a new item from the featured set is guaranteed within 15 pulls. There is no 50/50, no 90-pull pity and no Fate Points β that HoYoverse logic does not apply here. The 10-pull counter does not carry between banners: when an event window closes, the count resets.
Duplicates and Gleaming Shards: what happens to extra UR/SSR
Duplicate UR and SSR pulls are converted into Gleaming Shards, which are then spent in the Glory Shop on exclusive UR sets, Designer's Reflections and rare upgrade materials. This turns wasted dupes into a long-running collectible track rather than dead inventory. Alongside that, Shining Nikki runs Designer's Reflection, a mechanic with no equivalent in HoYoverse titles: every garment can "reflect" a designer with a passive skill that boosts Styling Power in styling battles. Reflections level up to Lv.5 using Outfit Crystals, gathered by dismantling clothes in the Ark. Awakening Reflections then unlocks recoloured versions of outfits the player already owns β a second collection layer stacked on top of the wardrobe.
Gem Card and Privilege Card: two subscriptions that stack
There is no Battle Pass in the modern sense in Shining Nikki. Two parallel 30-day subscriptions fill that slot and can be held at the same time. Gem Card ($4.99) doubles monthly card rewards and grants the first round of stamina free claim each day. Privilege Card ($9.99) is the value anchor for active players: doubled privilege rewards, the second stamina round free, +30 to the stamina cap, +20 stamina from friends, the discount on Fantasy Tickets (100 Diamonds each, or 960 for a 10-pack), free daily attempts in Clock Workshop, Neverfall Curtains, Concept Voyage and Challenge Stages, +2 Mind Maze runs, plus exclusive Privilege Card outfit sets unavailable any other way. Both are one-time 30-day SKUs without auto-renewal β once the term ends you re-buy manually. The perks stack honestly, so anyone running both gets a doubled monthly track plus the full Privilege benefit list.
Top-Up Events and VIP EXP: the alternative to a season pass
The role a Battle Pass usually plays is filled by Top-Up Events. Every dollar of real-money spending converts into VIP EXP at the rate of 1 USD = 100 VIP EXP, and within an event window of one to two weeks, hitting set thresholds awards SR and SSR garment sets and upgrade materials. The summer Windtraveler's Forest event, for instance, hands out the SR set [Sleeping Forest]. Top-Up windows run alongside major story updates and event banners, roughly every two to four weeks. VIP EXP itself is permanent account progress that does not reset between events, unlocking exclusive outfits, Designer's Reflections and weekly gifts at higher tiers. The first-purchase x2 bonus applies only to Star Gem denominations (60, 300, 600, 1200, 3000, 6000), once per size; Gem Card, Privilege Card, Sweet Story Packs and Top-Up event packs are not eligible for the doubling.
Servers, the 9-digit UID and the closed Korean server
Shining Nikki runs on a set of isolated servers: Global/EN, JP, TW/HK, SEA (Rosset, since 13 April 2022) and VN (since 24 October 2023). Mainland China lives on its own client. The UID is nine digits, and on several servers β including CN and SEA β a sub-server split keys off the first digit: δΈε for UIDs starting with 1 and δΊε for those starting with 2. The server is chosen at account creation and cannot be changed: progress, wardrobe, Star Gems, Diamonds and Pink Gems do not migrate between regions. The Korean server is its own footnote: it opened on 29 October 2020 and shut down nine days later, with the last service day on 9 December 2020, after the hanbok/hanfu controversy and a mass refund campaign by Chinese players. New Korean accounts are no longer possible β that is one of the shortest regional server lifecycles in the gacha space. There is no official Russian localization: Russian is not on the supported list (Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian are), so players from those regions use the English Global build.
No Steam, no Battle Pass, no carryover into Infinity Nikki
A few common misconceptions are worth clearing up. First, Shining Nikki has no Steam release and no native PC client β it runs on iOS and Android, with PC play handled through emulators such as BlueStacks, LDPlayer or Google Play Games for PC. The Steam version belongs to the sequel, Infinity Nikki. Second, there is no "Lover's Path Pass" in Shining Nikki β that is a mix-up with Infinity Nikki, which runs its own path systems. Third, Infinity Nikki launched on 5 December 2024 on PC, PS5 and mobile with the open-world Miraland setting, but Shining Nikki did not shut down when the sequel arrived β both games run in parallel. Star Gems, Diamonds, the wardrobe and the rest of the account do not carry over into Infinity Nikki: the sequel runs its own economy on Stellarite, Resonite and Diamond. Playing both means maintaining two separate accounts.
